1. Program Overview
The Counselor in Training (CIT) program is designed to provide an opportunity for individuals to develop their leadership, teamwork, and communication skills while assisting camp counselors in providing a safe and enjoyable experience for campers. CITs will be supervised by experienced staff and will gain hands-on training in a camp environment.

2. Eligibility Requirements
To participate in the CIT program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum age: 16 years old at the start of the program.

  • At least 2 years older than the age range of the campers they will be working with. For example, if the campers are between the ages of 10 and 14, the CIT must be at least 16 years old.

  • Applicants must demonstrate maturity, responsibility, and the ability to work well with children and other team members.

3. Program Duration and Commitment
The CIT program typically lasts for the duration of the camp session. The specific dates and hours of the program will be communicated at the time of application.

4. Compensation
This is an unpaid program. CITs will not receive financial compensation for their participation.

5. Benefits
While compensation is not provided, CITs will receive the following benefits:

  • Room and Board: CITs will be provided with housing and meals for the duration of the program.

  • Training: CITs will receive guidance and mentorship from experienced staff to help them develop skills in leadership, group management, and other key areas related to counseling.

  • Experience: Participation in the CIT program provides valuable experience that can help with future job opportunities in youth development, teaching, and other related fields.

6. Expectations and Responsibilities
CITs are expected to:

  • Act as positive role models for campers and demonstrate the camp's core values at all times.

  • Assist counselors with daily activities, games, and supervision of campers.

  • Participate actively in training sessions and feedback meetings.

  • Follow camp rules and guidelines, including adherence to safety protocols.

  • Maintain professionalism and work collaboratively with camp staff and other CITs.

7. Supervision and Support
CITs will be closely supervised by the camp director and senior counselors. Regular feedback will be provided to help CITs improve their performance and maximize their learning experience.

8. Code of Conduct
All CITs are required to follow the camp's code of conduct. Any behavior deemed inappropriate or inconsistent with the camp’s values, including but not limited to bullying, harassment, or endangering the safety of others, may result in dismissal from the program.

9. Application Process
Interested individuals must complete an application form and provide at least one reference (preferably from a teacher, mentor, or previous camp experience). Applications will be reviewed by the camp director, and selected candidates will be contacted for an interview.

10. Conclusion
The CIT program is an excellent opportunity for those who are eager to grow, learn, and contribute to the camp community. We are excited to welcome young leaders who are committed to making a positive impact on the campers and fellow staff.
